The share of wind and solar power in the energy mix of Latin American countries has grown rapidly in recent years. Even the coronavirus pandemic could not interfere with this process.
Last year in Brazil, Chile and Mexico, wind and solar accounted for over 10% of all electricity generated. Argentina, with 8%, is also not far behind. This success of the region in green transit is due to the effective policy in this area, great natural opportunities and new investments.
In 2018, Chile was the only Latin American country where the share of green energy in the total energy mix exceeded 10%.
